Handicap Ratings

Postby Brigadier » Tue Dec 09, 2014 1:02 pm

My approach to finding winners is based on my own ratings, and I will try to load a race a day in the hope that you find them of interest. If not please let me know!

The Form+ is the horses’ current level of ability.
The Master is an adjustment of the Form+ to today’s race conditions. Sometimes the Form+ proves more accurate than the Master rating, but I use the Master rating.

The ratings show how tight and difficult these handicaps are. The top 4 ratings (i.e. down to Silly Billy in this race) have historically won 75% of the races. For live contenders I usually make a short list of the top two rated plus those within 3 pts of the top rated (i.e. down to Bognor in this race).

Master Notes Form+
8 I'm Super Too 95 ? 94
13 Uncle Brit 95 93
12 Two Shades Of Grey 94 ? 92
7 Hail Promenader 92 94
1 Bognor 92 ? 91
5 Silly Billy 91 ? 94
3 Hill Fort 90 ? 91
9 Marciano 87 ? 89
11 Amenable 86 82
4 Frankthetank 80 81
6 Sam Spade 80 ? 94
2 Disclosure 78 73
10 Mister Marcasite 76 72

Notes:
? – Not enough recent form to rate accurately.

Yesterday’s ratings were a good example of how to use ratings. You can’t just blindly follow the top rated. The short list (5) gave the winner Bognor 7/4 3rd rated and the close 2nd (beaten half a length) Two Shades Of Grey 11/1 2nd rated.

Again a tight race with 3 horses jt top rated, and question marks about 3 of the runners.

3:00 Lingfield

4 Day Of The Eagle 92 ??FTAW 89
2 Apache Glory 92 90
3 The Firm 92 89
7 Bridge That Gap 90 90
10 Oyster 89 91
9 Fair Ranger 88 86
6 Santadelacruze 88 89
5 Dozy Joe 88 89
8 Matraash 86 NB 90
11 Munsarim 83 87
1 Rakaan 83 87
12 Night's Watch 83 87
13 Kolonel Kirkup 82 ??FTAW 78
14 Corlough Mountain 64 ? 63

Notes:
? – Not able to rate accurately
?? – Rating is a guesstimate
FTAW – First time AW
NB – Notebook:
Matraash – Lingfield 1m2f LTO. Came from back. Going easily. Had to make way through the field. Too late getting there. Unlucky
