how do you calculate the expected goals?

hello everyone
i am struggling to figure out how to calculate the expected goals of the home and away teams seperatly

what do i do?
should i calculate the average of scored goals only or to add the conceded goals as well and find the average?
what sample is more accurate?overall or past 5 games?
